June 8, 2022: World Oceans Day

The oceans cover almost 3/4 of the earth’s surface, they contain 97% of the planet’s water. They are the engine of the biochemical and physical cycles that produce the oxygen we breathe, regulate the climate and, in essence, allow life on Earth, even if we forget it too often.

The World Oceans Day which is celebrated today represents an excellent pretext to bring attention back to the ever more imperative need to defend this heritage. It is not possible to protect cetaceans and sea turtles, the protagonists of Conceptu Maris, if their habitat is not protected and you do not understand what happens in the open sea, where fin whales risk swallowing plastic or being fatally injured by fast boats.

Getting to know better the habitats and behaviors of animals to develop effective conservation strategies in the Mediterranean: this is the main goal of the project.

You can follow the developments of the Conceptu Maris project on Instagram and Facebook.
