Distribution models and training: the new LIFE Conceptu Maris Deliverables

The Documents section of the LIFE Conceptu Maris website has been updated with new content.
Deliverable C1.2 – Report on identified indicators to evaluate the conservation status of CEPTU species introduces an innovative approach to the protection of cetaceans and sea turtles in the Mediterranean, combining visual observations, environmental DNA (eDNA) analysis, and species distribution models (SDMs). These models help identify key habitats and monitor their seasonal changes, providing a solid scientific basis for planning effective conservation actions.
Deliverable C3 – Report on training course & questionnaire details the training activities carried out for shipping company personnel, accompanied by a questionnaire assessing the risk of collisions with cetaceans and turtles. A total of 121 crew members received a certificate of completion. Of the participants, 92% now feel better prepared, and 98% would recommend the course. Training emerges as a key priority for reducing collision risk in areas of greater vulnerability.
